Drinking too much alcohol can affect the body in many harmful ways. Alcohol is associated with many different health problems and it can even lead to death. It is also responsible for many deaths, crimes, and even suicides.

Life expectancy can be reduced to approximately 15 years if an alcoholic doesn’t stop drinking. This is because alcohol is responsible for many health problems and deterioration of many things in the body. Brain cells deteriorate quicker when you drink too much alcohol. Brain damage can even occur if a person poisons themselves on a regular basis with alcohol.

When a person drinks alcohol their nervous system is interrupted. When you are an alcoholic this disturbance can be extremely severe to the entire structure of the central nervous system. This can hinder a person’s ability to be capable of retrieving, consolidating, and even processing information. There are also problems with cancer and disease for people who drink too much alcohol. Alcohol is responsible for inflaming the mouth, esophagus, and even the stomach to the point they can be cancerous. Drinkers that smoke are even more at risk. The liver takes a beating also when you are a heavy drinker because all of the alcohol passes through the liver. Many people have problems with cirrhosis of the liver when they drink too much. Once you have a disease like this it is not reversible and eventually will lead to death.

It is common for alcoholics to splurge drink or binge drink. When they finally do get the chance to have a drink they want to drink as much as possible. They don’t know how to enjoy a glass of wine but they drink the entire bottle until it is gone very quickly. This behavior can cause problems with an irregular heartbeat which can result in high blood pressure, heart attack or damage, and even cause a stroke.

Skin and pancreatic disorders are also caused by drinking too much alcohol. Most alcoholics find that they have problems with their pancreas and they may even be diagnosed diabetic. Skin disorders are common and they may have problems with skin cancer. Alcohol is responsible for weakening the bones and muscles which causes a weaker immune system also.

There are many problems that alcohol can cause with a person’s health. Alcohol should always be consumed in moderation and never drinking too quickly or too much at one time. When you drink alcohol smart then you can be healthier and increase the longevity of your life. Always consider the health risks when you drink and don’t drink just to get drunk.

Signs Someone is Using Drugs and Alcohol

If you think someone you know is using drugs or alcohol there is many signs you can look for. These signs include physical and behavioral signs.

Drugs and alcohol use can be extremely addicting depending on the person and the type of drug. Alcohol can cause an addiction to develop when too much of it is being used. Most drugs can be addictive upon the first time using them. Drugs and alcohol have been known to ruin someone’s life when they become priority over life. There are things you can do for people you care about that you feel have an addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Some of the physical signs of someone using alcohol or drugs include problems with sleeping, bloodshot eyes, slurred or agitated speech patterns, weight loss or gain, and even bruises and abrasions on the skin. A person may also appear to have poor hygiene or neglect their appearance. They may be sick more often and even be prone to accidents and injuries around the lighted palm trees too.

There are also behavioral signs that people will show when they are using drugs and alcohol. One common thing for an addict to do is hide and cover up their problem. If they are a drinker they will hide the liquor or stash bottles in weird places like with all of the gifts underneath the artificial Christmas trees.

Another sign of someone using drugs and alcohol is when they begin to look for a high and they don’t care where it comes from. The person wants to get high so badly they don’t care on the choice of drug anymore. An alcoholic may drink mouthwash for the alcohol in it. A meth user may resort to crushing pills and snorting them for the high. They may even steal any gifts that have perfumes in them under the Christmas trees also. When an addiction is bad there is no stopping it.

Another behavioral sign of a person addicted to drugs or alcohol may be depression. A person may seem very withdrawn and emotionally unstable at times. They may have a problem meeting deadlines and missing school or work. The person will have complaints from their boss or their teachers at school. They may even have reports of intoxication or drug induced behavior. Always pay attention to complaints that are passed your way about someone you love abusing drugs or alcohol. These complaints should never be passed off as invalid. If you can stop a habit before it forms then you can save a life.

There are many signs to look out for if you feel that someone you love may be using drugs and alcohol. These signs may be behavioral or physically obvious. If you care about the person then you will take the time and pay attention to the way they look and behave. If you do notice any irregular behavior that could be a sign of abuse then you need to act on it right away. Drug habits can form quickly depending on the drug.
